NOTICE OF PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX RATE CHANGE
The Town proposes to increase its property tax levy to $38,276,332.42
in the 2026-2027 budget year; the property tax levy this year is $36,897,034.16, THIS IS A PROPOSED INCREASE OF 3.74%.
It is anticipated that there will be an overall increase in property values and when coupled with the increase in the proposed tax levy will result in a property tax rate of $11.602 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for residential real estate, $17.441 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for commercial and industrial real estate and $43.632 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for tangible personal property, as compared to the current property tax rates of $11.499 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for residential real estate, $16.936 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for commercial and industrial real estate and $43.632 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for tangible personal property.
A property tax rate of $11.652 for residential real estate property represents the maxi- mum levy authorized by section 44-5-2 of the general laws.
The Town of North Smithfields 2026-2027 budget will be considered at 6:45 pm on June 22nd and 23rd. A public hearing will be held on June 15th at 6:45 pm. Both meetings will be held in the Council Chamber at 83 Greene St North Smithfield, RI 02896.
The below property tax estimates have been computed in a manner approved by the Rhode Island Department of Revenue.
