NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
Proposed Amendments to Chapter 75, Article IV, Section 4.9 Floodplain
District Regulations of the Town of Scituate Code of Ordinances
Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Scituate will conduct a
public hearing, open to the public, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the
Scituate Senior Center, 1315 Chopmist Hill Road, Scituate, Rhode Island, to consider
proposed amendments to Chapter 75, Article IV, Section 4.9 Floodplain District
Regulations of the Town of Scituate Code of Ordinances. The purpose of the proposed
amendments is to update and modernize the Towns floodplain management regu-
lations to ensure continued compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program
(NFIP) and to align the Towns Zoning Ordinance with the most current Federal Emer-
gency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and Flood
Insurance Study (FIS), as required under 44 CFR 60.3.
Opportunity shall be given to all persons interested to be heard upon the matters of
the proposed ordinance amendments. The proposed ordinance amendments are under
consideration and may be adopted and/or altered or amended prior to the close of the
public hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study or because
of the views expressed at the public hearing. Any alteration or amendment must be
presented for comment in the course of the public hearing. The proposed ordinance
amendments are available for review at the Town Clerks Office between the hours of
8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Holidays and on the Towns
website at www.scituateri.gov.
