PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENT POOL OPENINGS AND ILLICIT DISCHARGES
As pool opening season begins over the next several weeks, residents are reminded that swimming pool water may NOT be discharged into streets, catch basins, or storm drains, as these systems ultimately discharge to local waterways. Such discharges are prohibited under Chapter 207-3 of the Town of Lincoln codified ordinances.
Residents must first obtain permission from the Narragansett Bay Commission (NBC) before discharging pool water. Any discharge must be completed in accordance with NBC requirements and applicable environmental regulations.
Proper disposal helps protect our stormwater system, local rivers, and Narragansett Bay from harmful chemicals and pollutants.
